Learning Interventions

  • Almost half of the respondents that attended the workshop passed the information that they learned on to others.

  • Respondents mainly learned how to use their smartphone to solve real life challenges, to manage their business, and to learn a new language.

Technology & Smartphone

  • The treatment group said their use of technology changed more often than the control group

  • Almost half of the respondents say they don't have any trouble using their phone. The respondents report having a wide range of trouble using their phone, with their phone hanging, network problems and costs being the most common.

Discovering new products and services

  • 40% of the respondents discover new products and services from their friends and family

  • When asked to give their top three of good ways to discover new products, the respondents mention social media, tv ads and friends & family most often.

Gambling & Betting

  • About 1/3 of the respondents say they bet, but for men this is more than half.

Lifestyle & Environment

  • Most respondents live in a non-contained house, a house from bricks/stone where the toilet and bathroom are outside. Others live in a Swahili type house or a mud house.
